 Lorraine Smith
Head of Establishment

Lorraine has been in post as Head of Establishment in Cathkin Community Nursery since January 2018.  She qualified as an Early Years Worker in June 2000 and went onto her first permanent promoted post in 2005.  Lorraine spent 8 years as a Senior Early Years Worker and during this time studied for her degree in Childhood Practice. In 2013 she progressed to Depute Head of Establishment and remained in this role for 5 years before gaining the Head of Establishment post here at Cathkin Community Nursery.  Over this time, Lorraine has worked in 5 different establishments across 2 authorities, gaining a wide range of experience of working with many children and families, several staff teams and various supporting agencies.

Jane Montgomery
Depute Head of Establishment (Job share)

Jane has been in post since January 2016 and has held the post of  Depute Head within South Lanarkshire Council for over 14 years. Jane is the Additional Support Needs Co-ordinator for the establishment and works closely with a range of agencies, for example, Educational Psychologist, to support children who may face barriers to learning. Jane has responsibility for leading and supporting staff who work with children aged 0-3.

Adele McIntyre
Depute Head of Establishment (Job share)

Adele has been Depute at Cathkin Community Nursery since 2015.  Adele also holds the post of Early Years Worker within the establishment on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Adele has a lead role in managing the Ladybird playroom (3-5) and has responsibility for developing work with parents/carers including organising classes and courses in conjunction with our partner agencies. Adele has worked with South Lanarkshire Council for the past 17 years. Adele is attending Strathclyde University Studying BA in Childhood Practice.

Caroline Young
School Support Assistant

Emma has previously worked as a Early Years Practitioner for 3 years.  She enjoys all aspects of working within a nursery environment but particularly enjoy music and movement activities. Emma is passionate about her role of supporting children and staff within Cathkin Community Nursery and states that it is a stimulating and nurturing environment for children to develop and grow and the team are extremely welcoming.

Annmarie Lynch
Early Years Worker

Annmarie has worked in Cathkin Community Nursery for over 10 years and currently works in the Ladybird room (3-5). Annmarie has been qualified for 32 years and has worked with children not only in Scotland but in America and Australia.She is very professional and passionate about making a difference in young childrens lifes and to support not only the children but their families.Annmarie loves working at Cathkin Community Nursery.

Charlotte McInch
Early Years Worker

Charlotte has worked in Cathkin Community Nursery for 10 years and works in our Caterpillar Room (0-2).  Charlotte is also covering a vacant post and works in the Ladybird Room (3-5)  Monday, Tuesday full days.
Before Charlotte became an Early Years Worker she was a hairdressrer in a busy city centre salon.
Working alongside children and encouraging them to reach their full potential has always been Charlotte's goal and she is delighted that she is finally doing her dream job.Charlotte is interested in all areas of childrens development and she feels that she is in an establishment that shares her vision and goals.

Elaine Milligan
Early Years Worker

Elaine has worked in Cathkin Community Nursery since 2003 and works in the Ladybird Room (3-5) on a job share basis. Elaine works Monday Tuesday fullday and Wednesday morning.Elaine has experience of working with young children in a variety of settings including creches and playgroups. She worked as a classroom assistant in a primary school for 4 years before taking up her post as an early years worker here at Cathkin Community Nursery.
Elaine enjoys working with children and their families and firmly believes that quality early years care and education will help our children to achieve their full potential.She is a passionate advocate of lifelong learning and completed her BA in Childhood Practice in 2012 at University of Stathclyde.

Emma Greive
Early Years Worker

Emma has over 10 years experience working with children.  She joined our Cathkin team in September 2018 and has settled really well into the nursery.  The best part of my job is getting to know the wonderful children and their families.  In my spare time, I teach baby and toddler swim classes and spend as much time as I can with my own 2 children, my  husband and our family dog Potter.

Jackie McGuire
Early Years Worker

Jackie has worked in Cathkin Community Nursery for 17 years, where she has learned from the best, skilled and knowledgeable staff who have been making a difference in childrens lives and feels it has been one of the most influential times of her life and learning not only from staff but from the children too.Jackie believes her professionalism and passion for working with children started when she was a befriender with  social work, then went on to work with the Cambuslang Creche Project before returning to college to do her H.N.C. in Childcare and Education and was fortunate enough to get a job here and has watched it grow and flourish to what we have today, which Jackie thinks is "truly amazing".

Jacqueline Ward
Early Years Worker

Jacqueline qualified as an Early Years Worker in 2011 and has worked in Cathkin Community Nursery since August 2014. She is very professional and passionate about making a difference in young children's lives and developing their learning. Jacqueline's curricular interest is health and wellbeing and developing our garden areas.she has developed lunch and snack menu's which are available to all parents. Jacqueline enjoys being outdoors even out of work as she loves spending time going long walks with her dog Bella.

Louise McKechnie
Early Years Worker

Louise has worked in Cathkin Community since August 2015 and works in the Ladybird Room (3-5).Louise is the Eco Schools Co-ordinator and plans many fun activities for our children including ways to look after planet earth. Louise loves being part of the professional team at Cathkin Community Nursery because we constantly strive to ensure children have a great experience. Louise is also very keen for parents and carers to get involved in our family learning activities.

Louise Paterson
Early Years Worker

Louise has worked in Cathkin Community since August 2014 and works in the Butterfly Room (2-3).
Louise has been working with children for over 6 years ranging in age from birth to 15 years.Louise feels that Cathkin is a fantastic place to work and be a part of. Louise agrees that Cathkin is a rich, vibrant, learning enviroment for children to learn and grow.Throughout Louise's experience she has built up a range of great skills and knowledge of children's learning and development which has promoted great team working skills. Louise is currently interested in music and sensory areas of the curriculum.

Leanne Logue 
Early Years Worker

Leanne started working in Cathkin Community Nursery in March 2018 with previous experience in the private sector.  Leanne has a love of music and is our nursery music co-coordinator, she delivers music lessons to our under 3 children through rhyme, drama and musical instruments.  Leanne is passionate about working with our youngest children and assisting them in the development of life long skills.  Leanne has learned so much during her time here at Cathkin and explains that this is due to working with such a skilled staff team.  Since joining the Cathkin team, Leanne has been inspired by the use of Makaton and has even learned how to sign some nursery rhymes, encouraging the children to sing and sign too.

Leanne McDonald 
Early Years Worker

Leanne qualified as an Early Years Worker in 1998 and has worked across 2 different local authorities.  Leanne studied for her degree - BA Early Childhood Studies through Strathcyde University and graduated in 2004.  Leanne has a background of working with children and young adults with additional needs and progressed to co-deliver disability awareness training across the authority.  In 2014 Leanne secured a team leaders post and remained there until having her third child.  Leanne then joined our Cathkin team in May 2018 and believes that working with such a highly skilled team has been an invaluable step in her early years career.  Leanne is passionate about developing children's learning through physical play, both indoors and out and creating opportunities for children to use their energy more freely.

Dawn Curr
School Support Assistant

Dawn has worked here since October 2016 and supports children with additional support needs.

Jo has worked in Early Years since 2014.  She begun working with children with additional support needs, gaining skills and knowledge in Makaton and supporting children with barriers to their learning.  Jo then transferred to mainstream education in 2016.  Within Cathkin Community Nursery, Jo is our outdoor co-co-ordinator as well as our literacy co-co-ordinator.  She is passionate about promoting learning across these areas and believes they have a significant impact to a child's development and learning for life.

Fiona has been working with children in various roles since 2001.  She worked with pre-school children until 2012, before returning to university to gain her degree in Primary Education.  After teaching for 5 years (mainly in p1) Fiona decided that Early Years is where her passion lies and joined our Cathkin team in November 2018.  Fiona is very impressed by the quality learning experiences on offer at Cathkin Community Nursery and will enhance this further through the development of literacy and numeracy.  Fiona aims to promote this through her love of the arts - an area in which she is highly skilled.

Sharon Park
School Support Assistant

Sharon has worked here since September 2013 and supports children with additional support needs.Sharon enjoys her job as it is so rewarding.It can be a tough job at times but she is fortunate to work alongside a variety of staff where she has built up and stengethened her knowledge and confidence.Sharon is great at her job and this shines through in the children who she works with.Sharon says that being in Cathkin Community Nursery is like one big family and we are always on hand to help and support, not just colleagues but children and families too.

Josephine Gorman
School Support Assistant

Josephine has worked here for over 9 years. Josephine's job is admin based and she is the first point of contact for parents, children and visitors and makes people feel welcomed and at ease from the moment they step in the front door. Josephine is very competent in every aspect of her work and is equipped to handle any situation. Indeed, Josephine goes beyond this and anyone who knows her knows she is very engaging with families and is interested to hear their stories and has a friendly chat every day. The children especially love to come and say' hello' to Josephine every day. Josephine loves being part of this team and genuinely loves her work. She will tell you "It goes without saying, I love my job with a passion, to me it's the best job in the world.
